Conscious Movement, Lasting Strength: The Power of Pilates

Pilates is having a moment. It’s the workout everyone’s talking about. Sleek studios, packed classes, high-energy sessions. And while that buzz has brought more people into movement (which is brilliant), it’s also easy to lose sight of what Pilates is really about.
Because at its core, Pilates is intentional. It’s about moving consciously, not just quickly.
Pilates focuses on building deep core strength, improving flexibility, and full-body conditioning that actually supports your everyday life. A huge part of this comes from the movement of the spine and the pelvis. How they articulate, stabilise, and connect through each exercise. When you understand and control these areas, your entire body starts to move more efficiently and with less strain.
It’s also where body awareness comes in. Pilates teaches you to slow down, to isolate specific muscles and to move with purpose. You begin to notice how your body works. Where you hold tension, what needs strengthening and how to move in a way that feels strong and supported.
Mat Pilates is the foundation of it all. With no equipment to rely on, it’s just you, your body, and your form. And that’s what makes it so powerful. There’s nowhere to hide. With the right guidance, it becomes an intense, effective, and genuinely enjoyable workout that meets you exactly where you are.
Compare that to many of the classes we see today. 20 reformers in a room, one instructor, an hour to get through it all. It’s fun, it’s fast, it’s high-energy. But there’s very little time for individual correction or truly understanding what your body is supposed to be doing.
Georgia Stoller is now offering private 1:1 mat sessions at NWL Physio, starting Wednesday 15th April. These sessions are designed entirely around you. Your pace, your body, your goals. Whether you’re brand new to Pilates or a seasoned pro, this is your opportunity to build a stronger, more informed foundation in a tailored-for-you setting.
By focusing on mat work and stripping everything back, we create real strength, control and awareness. So if you do step into those bigger classes, you’ll move with confidence, clarity and a much deeper understanding of your body.
Georgia is BASI Pilates trained (Body Arts and Science International), a globally respected method founded by Rael Isakowitz. BASI is all about intelligent movement, flow, and precision.
Alongside Pilates, Georgia is also an actor and musical theatre performer with a strong background in dance, so movement has always been at the centre of her life. Expect sessions that feel focused but fun with great music, connected and purposeful movement and an environment that’s welcoming, supportive and energising.
If you’re ready to move with intention, build real strength and actually feel the difference in your body, this is your moment.
