Bowen Technique

Gonda Lewis qualified in The Bowen Technique in 2007

The Bowen Technique is a remedial, hands-on therapy that is applied using very gentle pressure. The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points of the body to perform Bowen’s unique sets of rolling-type moves which stimulates the muscles and soft tissue of the body.  There is no manipulation or adjustment and no force is used.  The treatment is gentle, subtle and relaxing.  Bowen can be considered for clients for whom other forms of therapy might be too aggressive, forceful or invasive.  The tiniest of babies to the frailest of adults have been treated with Bowen.  It is believed that the Bowen Technique prompts the body to reset, repair and balance itself and clients report benefiting from pain relief, improvement of function and recovery of energy.

One of the most common conditions that Bowen Technique can help is back pain.  Painful and restricted shoulders, neck pain, respiratory conditions and headaches respond well to Bowen. Bowen is being widely used for sports injuries as well, not only do sportsmen report fewer injuries when treated regularly but they also notice enhanced performance.
